I love my bed frame, but day after day it does get a little boring. So, I wanted to spice it up a bit for Christmas.
So, I came up with this Christmas bed DIY.

Surprisingly, using this Insulation sheet under $20 turned into an awesome DIY project that allowed it to happen.
The insulation sheathing was 4ft by 8ft in size, and extremely lightweight.
I measured the length of the side board on my bed. It was 80″ long, and 7″ high. So, I used a razor blade to cut the sheathing just a little shorter than this.
Then I purchased some batting and 3 yards of a festive fabric that I loved. I cut the fabric in half lengthwise, so I’d have fabric for both sides of my bed frame.
I laid down the fabric (face down), then placed the batting on top of it. And then, finally, added the sheathing piece on top.
The next step was simple. I just wrapped the insulation with the batting and fabric, securing it with a staple gun.
You could also use duct tape or a glue gun. Whatever you have on hand will work.
I wrapped the sides over and secured those as well.
The next step was to find a way to secure my DIY project to the bed itself. I used command strips with Velcro for this.
I pressed the fabric covered insulation onto the side panel of my bed. This would also work for a metal frame bed.
After that, I used the leftover fabric to sew some pillows, along with some coordinating fabrics. I also covered my rug with a white snowy fabric that was on sale. It felt nice underfoot and looked like a winter wonderland.
I love the way it turned out, and hope you’ll have fun updating your bed with the fabric that suits your style the best!
This soo cute thanks
Thank you Jan!
Brilliant! I can have a new bed all year long with this idea. And I can store them under my bed for later use. THANK YOU.
so so so so cute. love how you incorporated on skirt, pillows and throw.
We have a puppy that loves to put his balls under any piece of furniture that he can. Perhaps this will work for the hutch!
